I love when I can whip up a recipe that is not only a staple in my home, but quickly becomes a staple in the homes of other families. It’s my mission to help families live healthier and save time, so it gives me the warm and fuzzies when people tell me this recipe is their jam. This Sausage Pasta recipe is wonderful because it’s so fast to throw together. I can have dinner on the table in the time it takes to boil water. Sausage cooks fast and is a tasty treat! Plus it’s totally family-approved!

  • 1 box whole wheat or brown rice penne pasta
  • Salt for water
  • 1t olive oil
  • 1 package sliced hot link sausage (we like Evergood)–for a healthier option you could do something like Aidells (if you have kids–or adults!–sensitive to spice you can do a standard sausage and add in red pepper flakes to your spice preference)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 lemon
  • Grated parmesan cheese, to taste

  1. Bring pot of water to a boil

  6. Add sausage and cook until starting to brown a little around edges
  7. Add onions and cook until starting to soften, then add garlic and cook for 1 minute more
  8. Add tomatoes
